The Camel Coat

{Chelsea boot style wellies - buy here | Jeans - Primark | Slash Neck Long Sleeved Tee - Primark | Coat - buy here | Watch & Mini Shopper Bag - Kate Spade}

Okay, so I know we're not quite into coat weather yet but a girl has to be prepared! I began scouting around for my perfect winter coat a few weeks ago and although I'd found items somewhat close to what I'd had in mind, none of them took my fancy.  A winter coat is always something I'm willing to invest in, and with it's unexpected grey under-collar and gold detailing, I knew I'd found it the right one.

As it was a seriously under-budget purchase, that means I can buy it a sister in grey.....right?

The Coatigan

{Coatigan - Primark | Basic Tee - Buy here | Bag - River Island (last year) similar here | Choker -Primark | Trainers - buy here  | Leather leggings - buy here}

For those who aren't familiar with the term, the Coatigan is exactly what it implies.  It's a coat/cardigan. Not quite coat, not quite cardigan. A transitional hybrid, if you will.

Not only is the coatigan the best possible transitional piece for autumn, this particular item lends itself to a multitude of different looks.  Since purchase, I've found it difficult to take off due to it's seemingly unbounded versatility.  Not to mention it's best feature of all - it's price tag.

White - Out?

{Cowl neck jumper - buy here | White jeans - buy here | Shoes - here | Military style jacket - M&S (old)}

Whilst I admit I don't have a 'capsule wardrobe' as such, I still feel it is important to buy minimally or at least highly versatile pieces.  To make sure I get the most out of my wardrobe I try to buy pieces that can be used for most seasons.  Whether that be a skirt that can be worn with tights in the winter or a dress that can be adapted to suit all weathers.

One clothing item that springs to mind that is certainly not always regarded an Autumn/Winter piece is the classic white jean.  The versatility of them is most definitely underrated, and with a simple sweater they can be styled well into the Autumn/Winter season and beyond.

Flannel Fever

{ Sunglasses - Ralph Lauren | Faux Leather Jacket - H&M | Flannel Dress - Next | Booties - Primark | Bag - Kate Spade }

Flannel for me has always been one of those easy-to-wear fabrics.  If you're looking to add value to your wardrobe and you want something that will serve you well on those casual 'nothing to wear' days, flannel is always a good idea.  Not only is it never out of style, it's variations are endless.

This shirt dress caught my eye as soon as I saw it.  Picture the potential outfits....gladiator sandals in summer/scarf, tights and booties in winter. It's the ultimate year-round piece.

The Blanket Scarf

The blanket scarf is a perfect example of an accessory adding life and colour to an outfit.  Taking a plain outfit and letting the accessories do the talking is one of my favourite things to do.  With so many great affordable options for Autumn, this sartorial gem is too attractive to pass up.

I've put together a group of my favourites for the coming season here:

1. American Eagle Outfitters UK £9.99
2. Dorothy Perkins £12.00
3. Accessorize £15.00 (more colours)
4. Freemans £30.00
5. Matalan £10.00
